INSPIRATION
journalCruising the streets
I dream of one day being in the "Dream Cruise".  No, I do not own a classic car, but if I was in the "Dream Cruise", it would be because a dream of mine had finally come true.  What is the dream?  The dream is to be able to comfortably get into any car and to go any distance that I chose.  You see, panic attacks prevent me from getting behind the wheel of a car.  Actually, they prevent me from doing a lot of things, like grocery shopping, talking to the neighbors, or even walking around the block.
But, I have a dream, much like Martin Luther King, and that dream is to be able to enjoy being in the "Dream Cruise".  I watch it on television, and I see a lot of stop and go traffic, not to mention the heat and the yelling of patrons.  I can't fathom being in the "Cruise", but I can't stop dreaming about it.  I just think that if I could do that, I would be able to do anything that I wanted to do!  Yes, being in the "Dream Cruise" would set me free!  I only have an old Chevy, that has rusted through in many areas, but it would not matter...  They let anybody be in the "Dream Cruise", and I know they would let me be in it.
Well, I have dreamt about this long enough.  I believe that dreams can come true....they can happen to you......
So, I have been practicing.  I have gotten into our car, and not gone anywhere.  What I have done is put a tape in the tape player and done a relaxation exercise.  When I found that was working pretty good, I headed down the driveway, trying to keep relaxed and to breathe properly.  Then, around the block I went....
The Dream Cruise is  in August  and my plan is to be in the Cruise.  I am taking my support people with me, which happen to be AIM members.
Like the "Little Engine That Could",  I started by thinking I could, to absolutely knowing I can, with the use of Affirmations.  If I can do this, guess what, so can you, and even greater things.  Cheer for me on the "Cruise".  I will be in the rusted maroon Chevy Impala, 1993.

"If you spend a lot of time thinking about your problems, they'll grow bigger and stronger. Is that what you want? Of course not! Instead, focus on your goals. Start your day with them at the front of your mind, and use notes to recall them strategically throughout your day."
~Les Brown

Live life one breath at a time...just breathe. If I could write my own job description it would simply state "Teaching Others To Breathe". A close friend of mine tells me that I have taught him the art of breathing and that he shares these words with others.

In Life, it is not what you go through, it is what you get through.

Today's Quote

The U.S. Constitution doesn't guarantee happiness, only the pursuit of it. You have to catch up with it yourself.

-Benjamin Franklin

It takes strength to be firm.
It takes courage to be gentle.

It takes strength to stand guard.
It takes courage to let down your guard.

It takes strength to conquer
It takes courage to surrender.

It takes strength to be certain.
It takes courage to have doubt.

It takes strength to fit in.
It takes courage to stand out.

It takes strength to feel a friend's pain.
It takes courage to feel your own pain.

It takes strength to hide feelings.
It takes courage to show them.

It takes strength to endure abuse.
It takes courage to stop it.

It takes strength to stand alone.
It takes courage to lean on another.

It takes strength to love.
It takes courage to be loved.

It takes strength to survive.
It takes courage to live.

This is Rex Barker, reminding you that in life, it is important to have both strength and courage - just we all need to be wise enough to distinguish between the two.
