Subject Matter Expert,  S.M.E.

bookshelf

You can have initials after your name!  S.M.E.  To be able to put the initials, S.M.E., after your name, you must learn everything that there is to know about anxiety disorders (or just about, at least).

Anxiety is a continuing education class.  New things are always being discovered, true or not.  Whatever is being researched, we should set a goal to learn about it.
Why?  Because anxiety may be a major aspect of your life, and you want to know more about it than,.....well, than anxiety knows about you.  You are in the process of planning a major course of action to eliminate this excessive anxiety from your life, so the first step is to be one step ahead.
There are many things to read.  I have gathered soooo many books on the subject.
Some things you may not agree with at all, but it matters not.  Learn about it anyway.   To become an S.M.E., you need to  learn as much as you can.  Learn about the symptoms and know how they might affect you.  Even if you don't experience the symptom you may reading about, still...learn about it.  The reason for this is because in the long run, it will help you.  If ever you experience something new, or different, you are going to remember reading about it, and realize that it is perfectly normal.
Also, read personal accounts, from people that have recovered.  It is educational, as well as motivating.  You may not feel exactly as the person you read about, but knowing that they recovered will give you hope that you, too, can and will recover....if you are dedicated to the tools of recovery.
This is the beginning of your education.  It doesn't matter how long it takes, as long as you continue to hit the books, the tools, and take field trips.  Whatever you do, you need courage.    Map out a course of action and follow it.
A.I.M. can provide the tools for you.
You must provide the motivation.

Why not?
If you have attended A.I.M. and are willing to help others, why not gather a little courage and start a group of your own? Did you know that running your own group, you not only help others but yourself as well? Sure it takes time, but not as much as you might think!  We will help in any way that we can.  Just give us a call at (248-547-0400 or e-mail  anny@ameritech.net .
